Property Conservation

The majority of the property the AOAA now leases/owns was mined in the 1950s and was not reclaimed until recently. While the land sat vacant for decades, it was used by many as a dumping ground. Since securing lease/ownership rights to the property, we have partnered with a variety of organizations to make the property safe and clean.

AOAA Authority

The Northumberland County Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area (AOAA) Authority was formed in January of 2013 to address the issue of illegal riders on the 7,500 acres of county owned forest and coal lands by providing a safe, regulated riding area – a better experience for everyone.
